A 20-year-old Cleveland woman was killed Tuesday evening when a car crossed the median on State Route 10 in Lorain County and collided with an oncoming vehicle, state troopers say. Alondra N. Pacheco Pagan was pronounced dead at the scene in Eaton Township, while a 56-year-old Oberlin man involved in the crash was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on State Route 10 near State Route 57, according to a preliminary investigation reported by FOX 8 News. Investigators say a 1999 Toyota Corolla traveling east on State Route 10 went over the median, spun out, and ended up in the westbound lanes, where it was struck by a westbound 2021 Kia Seltos.

Pacheco Pagan died at the scene in Eaton Township, per the preliminary findings from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. A separate report from wkyc.com likewise identified her as the 20-year-old Cleveland resident who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oberlin Man Hospitalized After Crash

The 56-year-old Oberlin man involved in the crash was transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, where investigators say he suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The station's report does not specify which vehicle he was driving or further details about his condition beyond those injuries.

State Route 10 was shut down for about 1.5 hours while crews cleared the scene, according to the same account. The closure came as the highway patrol worked to document the collision and clear the wreckage from both the east and west lanes near the State Route 57 intersection.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it is continuing to investigate the deadly crash, and the findings released so far remain preliminary. No further details have been released about the cause of the median crossing, road conditions at the time, or any citations that may follow.
