Coalinga police booked Cristino Lopez, 28, into the Fresno County Jail on reported charges including felony assault and felony resisting an officer, according to GV Wire and YourCentralValley.com. GV Wire reported that Lopez was treated for injuries and medically cleared before booking.
What police say led to the arrest
Police said the case began on Sunday, Oct. 11, when Lopez’s father went to the Coalinga Police Department and reported that his son had assaulted and choked him and threatened to kill him. The father had a bleeding face but declined medical attention, and identified Lopez as the person he accused, the two outlets reported. GV Wire placed the report at about 11:09 a.m.
Officers went to a residence in the 400 block of East Pleasant Street and found Lopez, GV Wire reported. Police described him as behaving erratically and making incoherent statements. During an attempted detention and weapons check, Lopez moved toward a detached converted room in the backyard and resisted officers, according to the police account reported by GV Wire.
Police said a Taser did not stop Lopez. After officers warned him to surrender, K-9 Boss helped officers take him into custody. One officer sustained minor injuries, GV Wire reported; YourCentralValley also reported minor officer injuries and the K-9’s role in the arrest.
