CohnReznick is acquiring the Aldrich group of companies, a Lake Oswego, Oregon-based firm with more than 500 professionals, in a deal expected to close in mid-December 2026. The acquisition brings together Aldrich CPAs + Advisors and Aldrich Wealth, two arms of a firm that has operated for more than 50 years, and will reshape how the combined organization serves clients across the Western United States.
According to a statement from CohnReznick, the professional services firm said it “today announced a strategic acquisition of the Aldrich group of companies.” Under the arrangement, Aldrich becomes the cornerstone of CohnReznick's new West Region, while Aldrich Wealth becomes the platform for CohnReznick's wealth management business. The deal adds offices in Spokane, Washington; Lake Oswego and Salem, Oregon; Carlsbad, Mission Valley, and Orange County, California; and Salt Lake City, Utah, along with an expanded presence in San Diego and Denver.
A Firm With Deep Regional Roots
Aldrich is described by CohnReznick as one of the 10 largest firms headquartered on the West Coast, and the firm ranked seventh among firms in the West and 72nd nationally on Accounting Today's Top 100 Firms list, according to Aldrich's own account of that ranking — marking its 14th consecutive year on the list. Aldrich brings 48 partners along with its 500-plus professionals into the combined organization, and its CPA arm, Aldrich CPAs + Advisors, reports revenues exceeding $100 million, per CohnReznick's announcement. CohnReznick's announcement describes Aldrich Wealth as a wealth management platform and says the combination will expand client solutions.
Figures on Aldrich's size vary depending on the source and measurement date. CohnReznick's own release pegs Aldrich Wealth's assets under advisement at $8 billion, while Accounting Today, in its coverage of the deal, cited the same $8 billion figure as assets under management and separately reported the revenue contribution at over $108 million. Aldrich previously put assets under advisement at more than $7.4 billion as of December 31, 2025, while the figures cited above use both assets-under-advisement and assets-under-management terminology.
Leadership Reacts To The Combination
John Lauseng, who serves as CEO and partner of Aldrich, said joining CohnReznick creates growth opportunities for Aldrich employees and expands the firm's client capabilities, according to the ABF Journal report by Brianna Wilson. After the acquisition closes, Lauseng will oversee a new West Region with nearly 800 employees, according to the Portland Business Journal.
Heather Wonderly, CEO of Aldrich Wealth, said joining CohnReznick will retain Aldrich Wealth's personal fiduciary approach while expanding resources available to clients, per ABF Journal's reporting. On the CohnReznick side, David Kessler, CEO of CohnReznick Advisory, said the acquisition is a significant milestone and an investment in the firm's future, according to the same report. The combined organization gains capabilities in private client services, construction, telecom and agribusiness, strengthening areas that Accounting Today noted the deal bolsters.
Part Of A Busier M&A Market
The Aldrich deal lands amid a notably active stretch for both accounting and wealth management consolidation. Wealth management M&A activity reached 259 announced transactions through August 2026, 7.5% above the 241 transactions recorded through the same point in 2025, according to MarshBerry. Private capital-backed buyers accounted for 182 of those 259 transactions, or 70.3% of the total, and the activity spanned 40 states, with California leading at 23 transactions. MarshBerry has said the wealth management M&A market remains well positioned for a strong finish to 2026, supported by capital availability and demand for high-quality firms.
Accounting firm M&A has followed a similar trajectory. Transaction volume rose 26% year over year in 2025, with a record 194 deals announced or completed, according to CPA Practice Advisor. Volume climbed another 14.8% year over year in 2026, reaching 62 deals at the time of that report, and financial acquirers such as private-equity groups accounted for 54.8% of accounting firm M&A, up from 38.9% in the prior-year period.
CohnReznick itself ranked No. 15 on Accounting Today's 2026 list, reporting $1.14 billion in revenue, 344 partners and more than 3,860 employees across 35 offices, according to Accounting Today's coverage of the acquisition. With Aldrich's addition, the firm is positioned to deepen its footprint across the West while building out a dedicated wealth management arm anchored in the Pacific Northwest.
