A new 124-room hotel just off Ikea Way in Cordova held its grand-opening ceremony on Tuesday, marking the first Memphis-area location for Marriott's budget extended-stay brand, StudioRes. The property at 2260 Market Farms Drive is built specifically for guests who plan to stay weeks or months, not just a night or two.
As reported by The Daily Memphian, the StudioRes brand focuses on consumers who need a longer-than-typical hotel stay, with rooms that include kitchens equipped with full-sized refrigerators and dining space rather than standard hotel furnishings. General manager Porceanna Brounson told the outlet that the hotel serves contractors who want to cook in their own kitchens, as well as families preparing to move into homes who want to avoid paying two mortgages at once.
The Cordova hotel is another addition to the growing collection of hotels near Ikea, as reported by the Memphis Business Journal.
A Light-Touch Model for a Growing Lodging Corridor
The Cordova property adds to the growing collection of hotels near Ikea.
StudioRes uses a light-touch, self-service model that includes pay-and-go retail and laundry facilities, as detailed by One Mile at a Time. Rooms feature kitchenettes with stovetops and full refrigerators, though guests must supply or rent their own cookware.
Built for the Long Haul, Priced Accordingly
StudioRes was engineered specifically for guests staying 20 or more consecutive nights, with an average target rate of roughly $80 per night across U.S. and Canadian markets, per CoStar's research. Marriott International formally named the brand in August 2023, after initially floating the concept under the working title Project MidX Studios two months earlier, according to Travel Weekly.
Cordova's new hotel is the second StudioRes to open in Tennessee and the first StudioRes property in the Memphis area.
Memphis's Extended-Stay Landscape Keeps Shifting
StudioRes is Marriott's budget extended-stay brand, designed for guests seeking longer hotel stays.
Cordova's version of the brand is aimed at contractors and families navigating the in-between stretch of a home purchase. The brand's average target rate is roughly $80 a night, and its self-service structure offers a different guest experience from a traditional Marriott property, with kitchenettes, pay-and-go retail, and mobile key access.
