A 16-year-old Del City High School student is facing juvenile charges after someone called 911 and threatened to commit a violent act at the school before hanging up. Police flooded the campus with extra officers while investigators spent hours tracking down who made the call.

The threatening call came in Tuesday, according to koco.com, which reported that an individual phoned Del City's 911 center, threatened violence against the school, and then hung up before dispatchers could get more information. Police immediately deployed extra officers in and around the school and notified Mid-Del Public Schools, the outlet reported.

Mid-Del Public Schools activated its own emergency protocols and began assisting police with the investigation, per the same koco.com account. The added security presence remained in place at the school for several hours as officers worked to confirm whether students and staff were in any real danger.

Hours of Uncertainty Before an Arrest

After several hours, it was determined that there was no immediate danger to students or staff, the station reported. But the all-clear didn't end the investigation — police and school officials spent the rest of the day tracking the origin of the call, eventually identifying and locating a suspect.

That effort led investigators to a 16-year-old Del City High School student, according to KOKH, which first reported the arrest. The teen was booked into a juvenile detention facility on charges described as creating a terroristic hoax and violating the Oklahoma Computer Crimes Act, the station's report noted. Because of the suspect's age, their identity has not been released.

Investigation Still Open, More Charges Possible

The case isn't necessarily closed. Investigators told News 9 that the investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be added as the inquiry continues.

Del City High School has drawn scrutiny over threats before. A separate News 9 report described a secure lockdown at the same school during a different reported threat, during which students were ordered to remain in their classrooms while police responded; that report said the district ultimately found no credible threat. It's unclear whether that earlier lockdown is connected in any way to Tuesday's incident.
