A new beauty studio has set up shop in Del Mar's Flower Hill Promenade, offering everything from Korean lash lifts to lymphatic drainage massage under one roof. Aurelia, located at 2670 Via de la Valle, Suite A220, was founded by local entrepreneur Tanaya Roy and has already grown to 160 members since opening last month.
A Studio Built Around Lash, Skin and Body Care
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Aurelia offers Korean brow laminations, hydrating and skin-brightening facials, waxing and body care that includes targeted massage and lymphatic drainage. The studio also provides lash extensions and Korean lash lifts, with each lift customized to the individual client.
The studio employs experienced cosmetologists and estheticians, the Union-Tribune reports, and is described as a woman-owned beauty and wellness studio. Clients can find information about membership options and treatments at aurabeautysd.com.
From Lecture Halls to Lash Studios
Before relocating to the United States, she worked as a college lecturer in India, telling sdvoyager.com, “Back in India, I was working as a lecturer.” She arrived in the U.S. in 2012 with a master's degree and a pre-doctoral qualification, as she described in the same interview: “When I moved to the United States in 2012 from India, I came with a Master's degree and Pre-Doctoral qualification.”
Her early years in the U.S. involved a string of unglamorous jobs. Roy worked in an Amazon warehouse and at the front desk of a medical spa before being promoted to assistant manager at a franchise studio, per the same sdvoyager.com interview, while building experience within national franchise structures over many years.
A Career in Wellness
Roy has worked in beauty and wellness roles for years. She described working as Area Manager for Massage Envy and later as District Manager for BODYROK or Managing Partner with StretchLab, according to a separate account given to canvasrebel.com: “I've always been part of the healthcare/wellness industry, having worked as the Area Manager for Massage Envy for years, and later as District Manager for BODYROK or Managing Partner with StretchLab.”
Roy later moved to San Francisco for a District Head position. Her pageant career included being crowned Mrs. California 2022, per the Union-Tribune, while sdvoyager.com's interview with Roy cites her titles as Mrs. California 2022 and Miss South Asia World 2023: “I was honored to become Mrs. California 2022 and Miss South Asia World 2023.” The Union-Tribune separately lists her 2022 title as Mrs. Bharat California.
Leaving the Corporate World Behind
Roy said she left corporate leadership and started her own company in an interview with sdvoyager.com. She also said she owns Amazing Lash Studio and has expanded beyond a single storefront model by launching a lash academy: “Today, I own Amazing Lash Studio and have expanded beyond just a storefront model. I've also launched a lash academy.” That academy gives estheticians and beauty professionals hands-on training with real client interaction, per the same interview.
Roy has described her companies, including Aura Beauty & Wellness, as expanding into skincare and wellness with the goal of becoming a broader self-care brand, she told sdvoyager.com. The academy offers estheticians and beauty professionals hands-on training with real client interaction.
With 160 members already signed on, Aurelia appears to be settling into Flower Hill Promenade.
