Denver is waking up clear and cool Sunday morning, but the chill will not last long. Temperatures should climb before topping out near 75 degrees under mostly sunny skies.
The forecast calls for a cooler Monday, a midweek warm-up and increasing shower chances later in the week. Hoodline’s earlier forecast provides a previous look at the week’s weather.
Sunday's Conditions
Sunday afternoon should stay dry, with northeast winds sustained at 9 to 11 knots and gusts up to 17 knots. Sunday night will turn partly cloudy, with a low near 46 degrees and a light northwesterly breeze.
Monday will be sunny but cooler, with a high near 69 degrees. Tuesday and Wednesday rebound to around 77 and 79 degrees, respectively, while overnight lows remain mostly in the mid-to-upper 40s.
When Shower Chances Increase
Thursday will be slightly cooler than Wednesday, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 78 degrees. A slight chance of showers arrives Thursday night, followed by additional shower chances Friday and Saturday as cooler air moves back toward the Denver area.
Why Rain and Snow Can Differ by Elevation
One longer-term factor is the elevation of the snow line. The Colorado State Climate Summaries say projected rising temperatures are expected to raise that line and make more precipitation fall as rain instead of snow at lower mountain elevations, especially near the margins of reliable snowpack. This climate projection is broader context, not a description of this week’s forecast.
For now, the lower elevations should stay mostly dry, while a few light rain or snow showers are possible in the higher terrain early in the week, according to Denver7. The forecast area has no watches, warnings or advisories posted, so Sunday’s mild weather is shaping up as an easy day for outdoor plans.
