Covington Parks and Recreation is bringing live music back to the Devou Park Bandshell this Saturday, Oct. 10, with a free afternoon concert series called Bandshell Beats running from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event promises six live musical performances alongside food and vendors, giving locals a reason to spend their Saturday outdoors before the sun goes down.
According to NKyTribune, Covington Parks and Recreation is bringing Bandshell Beats back to Devou Park, with support from Infinite Hills Productions. The lineup spans six acts: Drew Freeland, Adam Wade Gilliam, Stick & Bindle, Sami Riggs, Zeotrope, and Jim Trace and the Makers.
A Free Lineup Built for an Afternoon Outdoors
The event is free and open to the public, with the six-hour window designed to give attendees plenty of time to wander between performances, grab food, and check out vendors set up around the bandshell, per the same report. This isn't the first time the bandshell has hosted this kind of programming — CincyMusic described Bandshell Beats as a brand new concert series when it debuted at Devou Park, offering four nights of free live music, food trucks and entertainment open to the public.
That earlier run established the bandshell as a go-to outdoor stage, and this Saturday's installment carries that tradition forward with a fresh roster of performers and the same no-cost, come-as-you-are format.
Timed to Lead Into Blink's Light and Art Celebration
Bandshell Beats coincides with Blink, a free four-night celebration of light and art taking place across Covington Oct. 8-11, the NKyTribune reports. Organizers are encouraging visitors to swing by Bandshell Beats before heading into Covington to experience Blink's installations and other attractions, making Saturday a natural pairing of live music in the park and the citywide light festival happening just down the road.
For anyone looking to make a full day of it, the timing works in their favor: Bandshell Beats wraps up at 7 p.m., leaving plenty of evening left to catch Blink's light displays as the festival continues through its final night on Sunday, Oct. 11.
