A doorbell camera at Stonegate North Villages in Parker recorded a man rifling through items taken from three separate vehicles during the early morning hours of September 27, and Douglas County Sheriff's Office investigators are now asking the public to help identify him. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately six feet tall, with a medium build, short blonde or light brown hair, and he was wearing a blue or gray t-shirt at the time. An unidentified vehicle has been associated with him, and investigators are seeking information under case number 26-89927.
The footage and search for the suspect were first reported by CBS News Colorado, which detailed how deputies are working to track down the man seen sorting through belongings pulled from the three cars. Stonegate North Villages sits in an unincorporated stretch of northern Douglas County just south of E-470 between Chambers Road and Jordan Road, according to the Stonegate North Villages Metropolitan District. Because the development falls outside Parker's municipal boundaries, primary law enforcement responsibility belongs to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office rather than Parker's own police department, per the district.
Recent Vehicle Break-ins
Recent vehicle break-ins Recent vehicle break-ins have occurred in the early morning. Nearly 70% of serious crime arrests in Douglas County have involved offenders who traveled in from outside the county, while auto trespass, vehicle theft, and burglary numbers have all fallen in recent reporting periods.
Statewide figures tell a similar story of decline paired with lingering risk. The Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority's 2025 report found motor vehicle thefts dropped 34% statewide in 2025 compared to the prior year. Even so, Colorado ranked sixth highest nationally for per-capita vehicle theft in 2025, a reminder that despite the downward trend, opportunistic break-ins like the one at Stonegate North still find targets.
What Charges Could Follow
Colorado law treats entering a vehicle with intent to commit a crime inside as first-degree criminal trespass, a class 5 felony under state statute that carries 1 to 3 years in prison and fines between $1,000 and $100,000, according to Right Law Group. Separately, the value of the items could affect any theft charge.
Recent Enforcement Effort
A two-week expired-plate enforcement period began September 28.

Not the First Time Neighbors Have Helped Crack a Case
Resident vigilance has paid off before in the area. In a nearby Parker break-in case, a neighbor's call about someone pulling on car door handles early one morning led officers to recover stolen items, including a handgun taken from a glovebox, and uncover an outstanding Jefferson County warrant for Failure to Comply, Direct Sentence Violation (Felony Menacing). Whether the Stonegate North suspect is linked to any similar pattern remains unknown, and investigators have not released further details beyond the doorbell footage and physical description.
