A 17-year-old driver and his 16-year-old passenger were hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after a dump truck slammed into their green Kia K5 at an intersection in unincorporated Kennesaw, sending both vehicles off the road. The teen driver suffered visible injuries, while his passenger was seriously hurt, and the 64-year-old man driving the dump truck walked away unscathed.
According to The Georgia Sun, the teenager was driving the green Kia K5 westbound on Roberts Boulevard when he turned left onto Vaughn Road. That's when a white Peterbilt dump truck heading east on Roberts Boulevard struck the right side of the Kia, according to police. The impact was forceful enough to push both vehicles off the roadway entirely.
Officers said the Kia and the dump truck ended up partially in a wooded area and partially on the sidewalk along Roberts Boulevard. The teen driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital with visible injuries, while his 16-year-old passenger was transported with serious injuries, per the same account. The dump truck driver was not hurt in the crash.
