Edmond families have a new reason to skip the sidewalk trick-or-treating this week: Storybook Forest kicked off Friday at Arcadia Lake and will run every night through October 30, weather permitting. The event features a well-lit path through the woods where kids collect candy from life-size scenes pulled straight out of classic storybooks.
The City of Edmond announced the opening in a post on X, writing that Storybook Forest “kicks off TODAY and will run nightly through October 30, weather permitting,” and pointing families toward a link to secure tickets for the City of Edmond
's family-friendly event, which also promises a storybook trail, campfires, a carnival area and hayrides. The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
each night
, with arrivals welcome any time during that three-hour window.
Storybook Forest is presented by the City of Edmond's Arcadia Lake and Edmond Electric, and it unfolds at Arcadia Lake's Spring Creek Park, located 2.5 miles east of I-35 on 15th Street, per edmondok.gov. Once inside, kids and parents walk a well-lit wooded path lined with life-size scenes from classic storybooks, picking up candy from characters along the way, the same account notes.
What's Waiting Along the Trail
Beyond the candy and the costumed characters, the event packs in a concession area with campfires for roasting hotdogs and s'mores, plus a reading tent and carnival games, according to the same edmondok.gov page. TravelOK separately describes a hayride, a game area and a campfire setting for roasting marshmallows as part of the nightly festivities. The event has also been described as a safe alternative to traditional trick-or-treating, per the city's materials.
Tickets run $15 per child and $5 per adult, and the city requires advance purchase, since everyone heading down the trail must have a ticket in hand, according to edmondok.gov. Entry requires a printed or digital confirmation, and tickets are valid only for the night shown on that confirmation. Refunds are offered only if the event itself is canceled, though weather-related cancellations may allow ticket holders to change nights based on availability, the city notes.
Rules to Know Before You Go
The event site accepts cash only, and guests should leave outside food, drinks and pets at home, since all three are prohibited on site. Vehicles arriving without tickets will be charged the daily entry rate, and the city says guests may be held in their vehicles at times to prevent congestion at the entrance.
This year's Storybook Forest schedule runs October 23-30, 2026, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. nightly at Spring Creek Park.
