Four masked men smashed their way into a northeast El Paso Dollar General just after midnight, grabbed armfuls of beer from the coolers, and sped off in a silver or gray car — and now police want the public’s help tracking them down. Investigators have nicknamed the group the “Brew Crew Burglars,” and the case is this week’s featured Crime of the Week.

The break-in happened just after midnight on October 17 at the Dollar General located at 11971 Dyer, according to KTSM 9 News. The El Paso Police Department and Crime Stoppers of El Paso are both asking for the public’s help identifying the four suspects behind the burglary.

Surveillance details show one of the men used a hammer to break the store’s front door before the group rushed inside. From there, the suspects ran straight to the beer coolers, grabbing several packs before fleeing. All four wore hooded jackets and facemasks, and together they got away with just more than $100 worth of beer.

What the Suspects Looked Like

Police have released physical descriptions of the four men in hopes that someone recognizes them. Three of the suspects were described as approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall; two of those three had a medium build, while the third appeared thin. The fourth man was described as having a large build and standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Investigators believe someone out there has information about the beer heist, even though the loss itself was relatively small. The case remains open as police continue piecing together who the four men are and where they went after fleeing the scene in their silver or gray vehicle.

How to Submit a Tip

Anyone with information about the burglary is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of El Paso at (915) 566-8477 or through its website. Tipsters will remain anonymous, and those whose information leads to an arrest may qualify for a cash reward.

The case comes against a broader backdrop in El Paso, where officers began investigating a string of commercial burglaries in early March of this year, according to the City of El Paso. It’s not clear whether that earlier pattern of break-ins is connected to the Dollar General incident, but it underscores that local businesses in the area have faced repeated break-in attempts in recent months.

For now, the Brew Crew Burglars remain unidentified, and police are counting on the public to help close the case.
