A nationwide construction technology company is setting up shop in southern New Mexico, with plans to open a new equipment and technology hub at 9030 Advancement Ave inside the Las Cruces Innovation & Industrial Park sometime in 2026. EquipmentShare, which describes itself as a construction technology and equipment solutions provider, selected Las Cruces as the site for its expansion into the region.

The announcement came earlier this month, with the Mesilla Valley Economic Development Alliance revealing EquipmentShare's expansion plans alongside NAI 1st Valley and the City of Las Cruces, as reported by KTSM 9 News. The new facility will function as a site solutions managed services operation, offering mobile tool trailers, on-site fueling, equipment management, and technology solutions aimed at improving productivity and cutting downtime for contractors working across the region.

The site itself sits inside an 1,820-acre, city-owned master-planned industrial development located eight miles west of downtown Las Cruces along Interstate 10, next to the Las Cruces International Airport, according to the NM Borderplex site description. The park was announced on February 24, 2026, as the fourth site to earn Platinum certification through Quest Site Solutions, Albuquerque Business First reported at the time.

Years in the Making

According to KTSM 9 News, the announcement marks the culmination of more than two years of collaboration among EquipmentShare, the economic development alliance, NAI, and the city. Brian Garcia, MVEDA's vice president of business development, called the arrival a significant win, saying the facility and any future expansion are expected to create quality jobs and strengthen the industrial economy.

Amy Susán, EquipmentShare's senior director of public affairs, said Las Cruces aligns with the company's growth strategy, framing the facility as the start of a long-term commitment to southern New Mexico. Las Cruces Mayor Eric Enriquez echoed that sentiment, saying the planned investment is expected to create quality jobs and strengthen the industrial economy.

A typical EquipmentShare branch is associated with 25 to 50 jobs, per the company's figures cited in the KTSM report; the Las Cruces facility is expected to create local tech-powered job opportunities.

State Incentives Back the Investment

EquipmentShare will receive incentives from the NM Borderplex Closing Fund, which is made possible through the New Mexico Economic Development Fund in partnership with the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico. That fund traces back to an initiative created by El Paso Electric, which commits $1 million annually over 20 years to foster job creation and private investment across its New Mexico service area, according to the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico. In its first two years of operation through 2022, the same incentive program had committed $805,000 in grants across nine regional projects, helping create more than 1,400 economic-base jobs in Doña Ana County.

A Company Riding a National Growth Wave

EquipmentShare's expansion into Las Cruces arrives just months after the company completed its initial public offering on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker EQPT, pricing shares at $24.50 and raising approximately $747 million after targeting a $6 billion valuation ahead of the IPO in January, according to Wikipedia's entry on the company. The company reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2025 results and said it had expanded to 430 locations across 45 states with more than 9,200 employees, per a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

That national footprint runs on EquipmentShare's proprietary T3 operating system, which tracks fleet telematics, machine utilization, and digital jobsite access across a fleet of approximately 235,000 units as of September 30, 2025, the SEC filing shows. The company was co-founded in 2015 by brothers Jabbok and Willy Schlacks, former general contractors who pitched the peer-to-peer equipment concept at a Startup Weekend event in Columbia, Missouri, before going through the Y Combinator accelerator, according to EquipmentShare's investor relations materials. EquipmentShare remains headquartered in Columbia, Missouri.

Part of a Broader Regional Build-Out

The Las Cruces Innovation & Industrial Park has seen other recent commercial activity, including a May city council-approved sale of 15.3 acres to CLS Development Partners for $573,792 to build a $12.2 million, 150,000-square-foot speculative industrial warehouse, as reported by Organ Mountain News. More broadly, Doña Ana County is in the middle of a major industrial infrastructure push, highlighted by Project Jupiter, a proposed multi-billion-dollar data center campus in Santa Teresa from STACK Infrastructure and BorderPlex Digital that began early phase work in late 2025 and 2026, according to Doña Ana County. That kind of construction activity is the backdrop for EquipmentShare's bet on the region, where demand for equipment rentals and fleet management tends to track major building projects.
