
A fatal two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 22A near Poorhouse Road in Henderson County on Thursday afternoon, with the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirming one of the vehicles involved was a commercial truck. The wreck happened around 3 p.m.
Sergeant Charles Childers confirmed the fatal crash, according to WBBJ-TV, which reported that troopers were still working to clear the scene as the investigation continued.
Investigation Falls to State Troopers Based in Jackson
The crash investigation remains ongoing, per the WBBJ-TV report, and falls under the jurisdiction of Tennessee Highway Patrol's District 8, which is headquartered in Jackson and handles traffic crash investigations and commercial vehicle oversight across Henderson County, according to the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security.
Tennessee law places specific safety requirements on log trucks. State law, effective since October 2023, requires any commercial log truck with timber protruding four or more feet past the trailer's end to run an amber strobe or blinking LED light along with two visible red or fluorescent orange flags, according to the Tennessee Forestry Association. Investigators have not released the identities of those involved.

Henderson County averaged 30.7 traffic deaths per 100,000 residents from 2020 through 2024. In 2024, the county's motor-vehicle crash death rate was 31.9 per 100,000 residents.
