The Fields Ertel Road corridor has a new timeline to watch: Hamilton County's intersection overhaul at McCauly and Conrey roads is expected to wrap up in August 2027. The work covers two intersections along the corridor.

The Fields Ertel Road project is a Hamilton County Engineer project. It folds in two distinct intersection redesigns: a full reconstruction at Fields Ertel and McCauly roads, and the construction of a new single-lane roundabout at Fields Ertel and Conrey roads. The project is expected to wrap up in August 2027, with construction continuing through next year.

The project includes minimized but unavoidable utility relocations, including power poles and overhead lines.

What's Actually Being Built

The McCauly Road intersection reconstruction was designed by engineering firm Bayer Becker for the Hamilton County Engineer's Office, according to Bayer Becker's project portfolio. The design adds dedicated eastbound, westbound, and southbound turn lanes, installs a new mast-arm traffic signal, and replaces existing box culverts and storm drainage systems — changes the firm says were necessary after traffic calculations showed an extra right-turn lane was essential to manage projected volumes.

At Conrey, the project includes a new single-lane roundabout at Fields Ertel Road.

Clearing Land and Funding the Work

Getting to this point required formal land appropriations. The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners passed resolutions in February and March 2026 authorizing property acquisitions along Fields Ertel Road between McCauly and Conrey roads under Ohio Revised Code Section 163.04, securing the right-of-way needed before utility relocation and earthwork could begin.

The county engineer's office issued public bidding solicitations in May 2026 under Project No. 502410, with an engineer's estimate of $8.43 million, ultimately recommending Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. to handle primary paving and site construction.

Sidewalk Improvements

Beyond the lane additions and the roundabout, the project also includes a new concrete sidewalk along the north side of Fields Ertel Road, according to the City of Sharonville's Mayor's Newsletter.

Infrastructure upgrades along the corridor coincide with ongoing residential development nearby, including Drees Homes' planned 57-unit Sutton Preserve project in Deerfield Township.

Safety along the corridor has drawn local attention before. In January, Hoodline reported that a 23-year-old pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle along an un-crosswalked segment of Fields Ertel Road in neighboring Symmes Township, underscoring the safety concerns that have shadowed the busy commercial artery even as the intersection upgrades move forward.
