Dallas is starting Friday under cloudy skies near 73 degrees, with another round of showers and thunderstorms expected across the city. The high should reach about 80, but the bigger concern is water: a Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday evening as already-saturated ground faces more heavy rain.

Rain chances are around 80% during the day, and downpours could briefly become intense even though widespread severe thunderstorms are not expected. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth says isolated additional rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are possible, while most locations will likely see around an inch or less.

The update follows 1 to 4 inches of rain reported across parts of North Texas over the past 36 hours. An earlier Hoodline forecast covered the initial deluge, but the extended watch keeps low-lying areas, creeks, streams and low-water crossings in the spotlight.

Heavy Rain Could Continue Into Friday Evening

Showers and storms should remain possible through the afternoon, with north-northeast winds increasing to around 10 mph. The rain may ease at times, but slow-moving cells could still drop a quick burst of water and create dangerous street flooding.

Friday night brings another chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low near 69 degrees and a 70% rain chance. Drivers should never enter a flooded roadway or low-water crossing, even if the water appears shallow.

Cool, Wet Weekend Gives Way To Sunshine

Saturday stays cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely, a high near 78 and a 60% chance of rain. Sunday offers one more chance for morning showers and storms before skies turn partly sunny, with temperatures reaching about 82.

The pattern finally dries out Sunday night, setting up a sunny Monday near 82 degrees. Temperatures then trend warmer in the second half of next week, with highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s, while little or no rain is expected through the middle of next week.
