Jimmy's Burgers and Pizza served its first Fort Worth customers on Sept. 29, opening a second location at 4741 Golden Triangle Blvd. after the fast-casual restaurant's original Hurst spot took off. Owner Kris Copp said the success of that first store is what pushed him to expand into the Golden Triangle corridor, bringing a menu built around wings, pizza and burgers to a new crowd.

Copp told Community Impact Newspaper that his goal was to build an upscale fast-food restaurant with enough variety that everyone could find something they liked. The sprawling menu leans into that idea, with offerings like crab rangoon pizza sitting alongside a Hot Hawaiian pizza topped with jalapenos and house-made hot honey, plus a Hot Hawaiian burger version of the same flavor combo. Copp described the trio of wings, pizza and burgers as, in his words, “the American meal,” the foundation he wanted the whole concept to be built around.

From Nebraska Pizza Shops to a Texas Fast-Casual Concept

Copp isn't new to the restaurant business. He opened Copps Pizza Company in Nebraska as a sit-down bar and grill serving pizza, wings and burgers before eventually moving from Nebraska to Texas, according to the same report. That earlier venture, per a separate account from Omaha Food Magazine, had grown into three pizza shops around Omaha, with a fourth planned for Overland Park, Kansas, and Copp was described in that piece as having spent 22 years in the food industry.

The Omaha Food Magazine account also noted that Copps Pizza was aiming to open three to six stores across the Kansas City area over three years, with a menu that included pizzas, wings, burgers, steaks, pasta and salads, and that the business sponsored eight sports teams and took part in community fundraisers around Omaha.

Picking a Building With Character

For the Fort Worth location, Copp said a major factor in choosing the site was finding a standard building that still had some character to it, rather than a generic box. He wants the format to stay simple, good and easy to duplicate as the brand grows, calling the fast-casual model “the way of the future” for the concept.

That duplication plan has real numbers behind it: Copp said Jimmy's Burgers and Pizza intends to launch two to four stores before pursuing franchising. Fort Worth marks the second step in that build-out, following the original Hurst restaurant that proved the concept could draw a crowd.

What's on the Menu, and What Reviewers Are Saying

Copp personally gravitates toward pepperoni or meat lovers pizzas, even as the Hot Hawaiian pizza has emerged as a popular order among customers. Unverified reviews posted to Apple Maps for the Hurst location echo some of that enthusiasm, with one reviewer writing that the food is freshly made and served hot and staff is friendly, and another saying, “We love everything we've had there - burgers and pizzas (especially with hot honey) are so good.” A third reviewer described trying a bit of everything, from pizza and burgers to onion straws and truffle fries, calling it all very good. Those comments come from unidentified reviewers on a single platform and shouldn't be read as a broader measure of customer sentiment.
