A 34-year-old Fort Worth man was arrested Tuesday after a 29-year-old woman told police he held her against her will for three days and beat her multiple times with a baseball bat. Michael McCoy now faces a charge of aggravated kidnapping causing bodily harm, and the woman told investigators she had once considered him a friend.
According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the woman said McCoy held her starting Sunday, keeping her captive for three days before she was able to call police. She told investigators that during that time, McCoy beat her repeatedly with a baseball bat. The woman described McCoy as someone she had considered a friend, the newspaper reported.
McCoy was arrested Tuesday in connection with the alleged kidnapping, per the same report, and was subsequently charged with aggravated kidnapping causing bodily harm. The report states McCoy was being held at the Tarrant County Jail with bond set at $25,000, though those custody details have not been independently verified through a booking record.
What Remains Unclear
The full police report, arrest affidavit, and any court filings in the case have not been made public, so the precise circumstances surrounding the alleged three-day ordeal and the nature of the woman's injuries cannot be independently confirmed beyond what she reported to investigators. It is also not clear what relationship or history existed between McCoy and the woman beyond her description of him as a friend.
The case adds to a string of troubling kidnapping-related incidents reported across North Texas in recent months. In a separate case in Burleson, two people were found dead following a reported kidnapping that led to a police chase through the region, according to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth. That case is unrelated to the Fort Worth allegations against McCoy.
Charge Carries Serious Weight
Aggravated kidnapping causing bodily harm is among the more serious charges under Texas law. No additional details about potential penalties or the specific statutory elements tied to McCoy's case have been made available at this time.
