A 35-year-old man was punched and kicked repeatedly inside a Williamsbridge deli last month after an argument with four men who then fled on foot, and police are still searching for all four suspects. The attack happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. on September 25 inside a storefront at 3563 Boston Road, leaving the victim hospitalized.
Police say the confrontation began as an argument between the victim and the four men before it escalated into a group beating, according to News 12 Bronx. The men punched and kicked the victim multiple times throughout his body before running from the scene. He was taken to Montefiore Einstein Hospital for treatment, while Jacobi Medical Center remains the borough's designated Level 1 Trauma Center for the most severe injuries, according to Norwood News.
The retail building where the assault occurred is a 3,700-square-foot, one-story commercial property built in 1989 that houses three separate storefront units, per PropertyShark. PropertyShark lists a $1.35 million sale price for 3563 Boston Road.
Legal Stakes If Suspects Are Caught
If the four men are identified and arrested, they could face enhanced charges under New York's gang assault statute. Under Penal Law § 120.06, an assault committed by a person aided by two or more others actually present can be charged as Gang Assault in the Second Degree, a Class C felony, according to FindLaw. That charge requires proof of intent to cause physical injury and that serious physical injury was inflicted while the attacker was aided by at least two other individuals actually present.
The case falls under the jurisdiction of the NYPD's 47th Precinct, headquartered at 4111 Laconia Avenue and responsible for patrolling Williamsbridge along with Wakefield, Edenwald, and Woodlawn in the northernmost section of the Bronx, per the NYPD. Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact police, and NYPD Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards of up to $3,500 for anonymous tips that lead to an arrest and indictment, submitted either online or by calling 1-800-577-TIPS.
A Neighborhood Already On Edge
This is not the only unsolved violent attack to hit Williamsbridge in recent weeks. A 59-year-old man was beaten into critical condition outside 3807 White Plains Road on September 8, and he was still fighting for his life weeks later, with both incidents stemming from verbal arguments before turning physical.
The deli assault also arrives against a backdrop of volatile crime trends in the precinct. The 47th Precinct recorded 3,259 major crimes in 2025, an 11.5% jump over the 2,923 logged in 2024 and the steepest percentage increase among all Bronx precincts that year, according to Norwood News.
Borough-wide, major crime across the Bronx fell by roughly 12% in 2026 compared to 2025, per data cited by NYC Mini Storage. Still, localized storefront violence like the Boston Road beating continues to rattle residents even as citywide numbers trend in a more favorable direction. Investigators have not said whether surveillance footage from inside or near the deli has helped identify any of the four suspects, and the underlying cause of their argument with the victim remains unclear.
