A 59-year-old man remains in critical condition at Jacobi Hospital more than a month after he was beaten in the face and head during an argument outside 3807 White Plains Road in Williamsbridge, and police are still searching for the man they believe is responsible. The attack happened around 10:40 p.m. on Sept. 8, when the confrontation turned violent in front of the building, according to the NYPD.
Police say the attacker struck the victim numerous times in the face and head before paramedics rushed him to Jacobi Hospital, according to News12 | Bronx. He has remained in critical condition there in the weeks since, per the outlet's reporting. Investigators have released an image of the man wanted in connection with the assault, describing him as wearing a white T-shirt, jeans and a white hat at the time.
NYPD Asks Public for Help Identifying Suspect
No arrest has been reported in the case, and the search for the attacker continues. The NYPD is urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), the same tip line cited in the station's report on the case.
The attack adds to a string of violent incidents that have rattled the Williamsbridge area in recent months. In September, a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg near Boston Road and Wilson Avenue, a corner with what Hoodline described as a long history of gunfire, including a January 2025 shooting at a moving vehicle and a March 2023 confrontation outside a nearby bodega that led to federal prosecution. No arrests have been made in that shooting either, and the investigation remains ongoing, according to the same report.
Pattern of Unsolved Violence in the Neighborhood
Just over a year earlier, a 68-year-old man named Ricaldo Swift was wanted for attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a 55-year-old man he knew multiple times throughout his body at the intersection of Bronxwood Avenue and East 219 Street, also in Williamsbridge, as reported by amNY. No arrests had been made in that case either, with investigators saying the search remained active.
Nearby in Wakefield, police in March sought three men in connection with a double shooting inside 4386 White Plains Road that killed 28-year-old Marlondo Hall, who was taken to Jacobi, while a 38-year-old man was taken to St. Barnabas in stable condition, according to the Norwood News. The repeated use of Jacobi as the destination for critically wounded victims in these Bronx cases underscores how frequently the hospital finds itself treating the aftermath of neighborhood violence.
Precinct Data Shows Scope of Local Crime
The NYPD's 47th Precinct, which covers Williamsbridge, recorded 33 shooting incidents, 6,083 arrests and 13,640 total reported crimes in 2025, according to the same Hoodline report on the Boston Road shooting. That figure offers context for a stretch of the Bronx where multiple violent attacks within the same several blocks have gone unresolved for weeks or months at a time.
For now, the man accused of beating the 59-year-old victim on White Plains Road remains at large, and his condition more than a month later has not been reported as having changed from critical.
