A four-vehicle crash in Norman left two people hospitalized Wednesday evening, one in critical condition and the other in serious condition, after a collision that shut down a busy stretch of roadway near Alameda for hours.
According to the Norman Police Department, the collision happened at about 5 p.m. when a vehicle heading south turned west and crashed into two northbound vehicles, as reported by KOCO. The impact involved four vehicles total and left two people hurt badly enough to be taken to local hospitals.

Road Reopens After Hours-Long Closure
The roadway reopened just after 7:35 p.m., per officials cited in the station's report. Until then, drivers were asked to find an alternative route around the closure, which stretched across both directions of travel in that corridor.
News 9 reported that police did not know the cause of the crash at the time of its coverage, quoting officers as saying, “The cause of the crash are not known at this time.” No additional details on what led to the collision had been released as of the reports.
