A Frisco man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison after stabbing his Lyft driver and stealing the man's car in a scheme prosecutors say was meant to help him kidnap a 13-year-old. Antwain Karmen Williams, who lived in Frisco, pleaded guilty to first-degree felony aggravated robbery over the Dec. 16, 2024, attack, according to FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth, which left his driver with a slit throat and a severely cut hand.
According to Fox4 News, Frisco police responded to a 911 call that night reporting a vehicle taken at knifepoint. Officers found the victim suffering from multiple knife wounds and rushed him into emergency surgery, which he survived. The driver, identified by Fox News as Dilaver Berk, told police the attacker was his own passenger, who assaulted him from behind with a knife and then a cable or wire before driving off in his Toyota Camry, according to a separate report from Fox News.
A Fake Name and a Fast-Moving Investigation
Investigators identified Williams through ride-share data. He fled in the stolen vehicle, crashed it into another car, and was taken into custody by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Justin Diaz, as reported by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.
Williams initially blamed a fictional person for the attack, then later claimed the Lyft driver had locked him in the car and that he fought back only to escape, per the reporting from Fox4 News. Prosecutors also presented a Snapchat photo investigators say shows Williams smirking while holding the stolen keys, captioned “we mobile baby.” Jurors also heard that Williams had previously messaged someone, “I'm boutta get a car,” before the attack took place, as noted by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.
Evidence Tied the Robbery to a Kidnapping Plot
At the time of the carjacking, Williams had an outstanding arrest warrant for sexual performance of a child involving a 13-year-old victim, the station's report states. Prosecutors say digital evidence showed Williams planned to steal a car that same night specifically to kidnap that same child. Detective Walker Martin testified about phone evidence prosecutors say showed the illegal nature of Williams' relationship with the child victim, and jurors also heard that Williams had spoken sexually with a 14-year-old.
Jurors additionally heard evidence that Williams had recorded and posted, without permission, videos of sexual encounters with two former girlfriends who were 16 and 17 years old at the time, per a report from FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. The same account notes Williams threatened to jump another person once he was released. Taken together, the jury heard evidence covering the robbery itself, the pending child sexual performance case, and other prior conduct before the sentence was handed down.
Sentencing and the Prosecution Team
Judge Jim Pruitt presided over the case. Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis announced that Williams was sentenced to 75 years in prison for aggravated robbery. Willis said a jury imposed the 75-year sentence after hearing the full evidence in the case.
The announcement circulated locally after the official Frisco Police
account retweeted the Collin County District Attorney's post announcing the sentence. Frisco Police describes its social media as not monitored around the clock and directs residents to call 911 for emergencies or 972-292-6010 for non-emergency matters.
