Boston is starting Tuesday with fog, low clouds and temperatures in the mid-50s, setting up a damp and gray day across the city. A brief warmup arrives Wednesday, when the high could reach 75 degrees, but the week ends with rain, powerful wind gusts and a Saturday chill.
Fog And Showers Linger Through Tuesday
The National Weather Service Boston/Norton office expects patchy fog, mostly cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain showers Tuesday, with a high near 59 degrees. Winds are forecast to begin northeast at around 5 to 10 knots, then turn south or southeast and increase to around 8 to 12 knots in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Rain chances remain modest during the day.
Tuesday night stays mild, with lows in the 50s to low 60s and showers possible.
Wednesday Brings A Brief Warmup
Clouds should break Wednesday as mostly sunny skies and westerly winds of 9 to 11 mph accompany temperatures rising to about 75 degrees in Boston. An isolated shower is possible, but the overall pattern looks much drier than Tuesday.
Thursday turns sunny and cooler, with a high near 61. That one-day cooldown sets the stage for a much rougher end to the workweek.
Rain And A Windy Weekend Follow
Rain is in the forecast Friday, with an 80% chance of precipitation and a high near 63 degrees.
Rain is expected to end Saturday morning, with strong northwest winds and colder conditions.
Sunday looks mostly sunny, with a high near 52 and west winds around 11 to 13 mph. The forecast lists no land-based watches or warnings, though Small Craft Advisories remain posted for portions of the waters through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
