Phoenix is starting Monday under mostly clear skies and early temperatures in the upper 60s, but the warmup will be brief. Highs should reach about 88 degrees Monday and the upper 80s Tuesday before a stormier pattern moves into the Valley Tuesday night and lingers through Thursday.
Warm Monday And Tuesday Set Up Storms
Monday will stay mostly sunny with light east-southeast winds and an afternoon high near 88. Tuesday will be warmer, with rain chances decreasing; any remaining showers or storms should be limited to the White Mountains.
Heavy Rain And Storms Could Hit Midweek
Wednesday brings an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high near 85. Thursday will remain unsettled, with storms likely before 5 p.m. and a high near 80.
The National Weather Service says repeated storms could bring brief heavy rain, strong wind gusts and hail. Flash flooding will be a concern, particularly in foothills and higher terrain north and east of Phoenix; lower desert areas could receive roughly a quarter-inch to 1 inch of rain, while higher terrain could see 1 to 2.5 inches, with locally higher totals where storms repeatedly track over the same areas.
Cooler, Drier Weather Arrives Friday
Rain chances should ease Thursday afternoon across the lower deserts, followed by a sunny and noticeably cooler Friday with a high near 76 and a low around 63. The weekend rebounds modestly, with sunny skies and highs near 79 Saturday and 82 Sunday.
No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the Phoenix area. Even so, drivers and outdoor planners should watch for sudden downpours, ponding and rapidly changing conditions from Tuesday night through Thursday.
