A German Christmas market with roots in downtown Atlanta is setting up shop in Senoia this holiday season, bringing roughly 50 booths, a towering wooden Christmas pyramid, and plenty of bratwurst to the small Coweta County town best known for its brick storefronts and zombie-movie fame. The Senoia Christkindl Market opens on Black Friday and runs through Christmas Eve at 158 Seavy Street, within walking distance of Senoia's historic downtown.

The expansion marks the second metro Atlanta location for the Atlanta Christkindl Market in 2026, following a blockbuster debut season in Lawrenceville. According to The Citizen, the market will operate two metro Atlanta locations this year, with the Lawrenceville market reopening November 20 and the new Senoia outpost running November 27 through December 24. GA Events Corp., which operates the market, says Chief Operating Officer Marco Foelske attributed the expansion directly to the strong success the market found in Lawrenceville.

That success was not modest. In its inaugural season at Lawrenceville Lawn in 2025, the market generated 370,800 total visits, according to the City of Lawrenceville, with visits entering downtown Lawrenceville rising 77 percent year-over-year even though the event ran 11 fewer days than it had in 2024. Onsite vendors reported 20 to 30 percent sales increases compared to the prior year, and surrounding brick-and-mortar downtown businesses saw sales growth between 5 and 30 percent, the same city release notes.

Why Senoia, Specifically

Foelske, in comments reported by Global Atlanta, said Senoia was chosen for the Southside expansion because of its romantic small-town atmosphere and because city leadership extended a direct invitation to bring the market there. Senoia draws visitors interested in The Walking Dead and has appeared in films.

What's at the Market

Visitors to the Senoia market will find roughly 50 booths and about 35 curated vendors, including local artisans from Senoia and surrounding communities, selling gifts, ornaments, décor, jewelry, toys, and handcrafted items. The centerpiece will be a German Christmas pyramid standing 15 to 20 feet tall. Food and drink options include chimney cakes, bratwurst, raclette, roasted nuts, hot chocolate, and glühwein, the mulled wine traditionally served at German holiday markets, and some vendors will work both the Senoia and Lawrenceville locations.

Admission and parking are free, a combination that organizers have credited as a key attendance driver in Lawrenceville, where reporting by Atlanta News First indicated the 2025 market drew more than 200,000 attendees by late December, with total season attendance estimated as high as 300,000. The Senoia market is positioned to serve not just the town itself but Coweta County, Fayette County, Peachtree City, and surrounding communities.

Hours and the Charity Behind the Booths

The Senoia Christkindl Market will be open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3 pm to 9 pm, and Fridays through Sundays from 11 am to 9 pm. It will also be open daily from December 21 through December 23 from 11 am to 9 pm, and on Christmas Eve from 11 am to 4 pm. Organizers say entertainment schedules and a full vendor list will be announced in the coming weeks.

The market traces back to December 2016, when it launched at Atlantic Station as a cultural fundraiser created by the German-American Cultural Foundation, according to Global Atlanta. Organizers imported wooden booths and traditional holiday goods directly from Germany for that first market. The German American Cultural Foundation still produces the event as its primary annual fundraiser, supporting German language education and cultural programs across the Southeast, and works with the German American Chambers of Commerce to help ensure cultural authenticity.

Before settling into suburban greenspaces, the Atlanta Christkindl Market moved through a string of central metro Atlanta locations, including Atlantic Station, Centennial Olympic Park, Buckhead Village District, and Cobb Galleria, spending four years at Buckhead Village District from 2021 to 2024, per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. After moving to Lawrenceville in 2025, the market is expanding to Senoia in 2026.
