A 37-year-old man was found stabbed multiple times and stuffed inside a closet in a third-floor Germantown apartment, and Philadelphia police have arrested a 34-year-old woman in connection with his killing. The victim has been identified as Dorakoma Lim.
Police officers responded to a home on the 600 block of East Chelten Avenue, where they discovered Lim's body inside the closet, according to sources cited by 6abc Philadelphia. Marianne Lara Wright was taken into custody on Tuesday and has been charged with criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse, and possessing an instrument of crime, the station reports.
Investigators have not released details about what led to the stabbing, and authorities have not said whether Wright and Lim knew each other, per the same account. Those remain open questions as the investigation continues.
What the Charges Mean Under Pennsylvania Law
Pennsylvania's criminal homicide statute functions as an umbrella charge covering first-, second-, and third-degree murder as well as voluntary and involuntary manslaughter, according to Ellis Legal, which notes that prosecutors typically evaluate intent and malice before formalizing a specific degree in court. That helps explain why initial police records often list the broader charge before more specific counts are finalized.
The abuse of a corpse charge against Wright stems from 18 Pa.C.S. § 5510, a statute that applies when a person treats a human body in a manner they know would outrage ordinary family sensibilities, according to the Pennsylvania General Assembly. The additional charge of possessing an instrument of crime is classified as a first-degree misdemeanor under state law, defined as possessing an object or weapon with intent to use it criminally, the McShane Firm explains, noting the charge can apply to knives or edge weapons used in the commission of an offense.
If prosecutors pursue and secure a first-degree murder conviction, Pennsylvania sentencing guidelines mandate life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in cases where capital punishment is not sought, according to the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Before any trial, Wright will face a preliminary hearing in municipal court, where prosecutors must establish probable cause for each count, a step that determines whether sufficient evidence exists to hold a defendant for trial, according to Latta Law.
A Germantown Block Under the 14th District's Watch
The 600 block of East Chelten Avenue falls within the jurisdiction of the Philadelphia Police Department's 14th Police District, headquartered on West Haines Street, according to WHYY, which notes the district also covers Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill, and parts of West Oak Lane. The Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit oversees fatal stabbing and shooting cases across the city's 21 patrol districts, coordinating evidence collection with local district officers who secure the scene, according to The Chestnut Hill Local.
The killing comes even as 14th District commanders told Germantown residents during an August 2025 community safety forum that violent crime across the district was trending toward historic multi-year declines, according to Resolve Philly. That forum had addressed community concerns about neighborhood safety and municipal investment in the area.
Local community organizations and police district clergy have regularly organized peace walks along the East Chelten Avenue corridor to engage residents and support victims following violent crimes in Germantown, The Chestnut Hill Local has reported. Such community initiatives have historically involved district police officers working alongside local advocacy groups.
Philadelphia police have not released a motive or further details about the relationship, if any, between Wright and Lim. 6abc Philadelphia identified the victim as Dorakoma Lim and reported his age as 37; Wright's arrest was confirmed by police on Tuesday.
