Downtown Los Angeles is in for a soggy Halloween, with rain expected through Saturday and the wettest stretch arriving around trick-or-treating hours. The afternoon high should reach 68 degrees, but cloudy skies and showers will make for a decidedly less-than-summery October 31.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for rain through the day, with chances increasing from late morning into the afternoon and evening. Winds should stay light at around 5 mph, while daytime rainfall totals are expected to remain below a tenth of an inch, according to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles.
Saturday Night Brings The Wettest Stretch
Rain becomes even more likely Saturday night, when the chance of precipitation rises to 90 percent. Downtown Los Angeles should bottom out near 59 degrees, with one-quarter to one-half inch of rain possible and light winds.
Forecasters expect the rain to be manageable rather than especially intense, but wet sidewalks, slick roads and reduced visibility could still complicate Halloween plans. There are no watches, warnings or advisories listed for the area, though umbrellas and reflective clothing would be smart accessories for anyone heading out after dark.
Sunday Starts Damp Then Clears
Rain should taper off through Sunday, with a high near 68 degrees. Sunday night turning mostly clear and cooler, dipping to about 56 degrees.
Sunny Weather Starts Next Week
The forecast makes a quick recovery after the weekend. Monday and Tuesday are expected to be sunny with highs of 75 and 76 degrees, respectively. Wednesday is expected to be sunny with a high of 75, while later in the week is expected to be cloudier or rainy, with lower highs.
Overnight temperatures will generally settle in the mid-50s to upper 50s, making next week a much easier sell for outdoor plans. In other words, Los Angeles gets its brief Halloween rain cameo before returning to its regularly scheduled sunshine.
