Grand Rapids starts Friday in the mid-40s under clear skies. Patchy fog may briefly form before 8 a.m., then give way to sunshine and an afternoon high near 69. Light winds are expected.
A Sunny Friday Sets Up A Warm Saturday
Friday night brings partly cloudy skies and a slight chance of showers between 11 p.m. and midnight. Temperatures will be in the mid-50s overnight, edging up toward morning. Saturday is forecast to be the warmest day, with mostly sunny skies, a high near 77 and south-southeast wind gusts up to 23 mph.
Clouds Increase Sunday, Then Sunshine Returns
Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a high around 70 and light southeast winds. Fog may develop in places Sunday night after 9 p.m.; the low will be about 53. Monday should bring early patchy fog followed by a mostly sunny afternoon and a high near 74.
Storm Chances And Cooler Weather Midweek
The warmer stretch may start to give way Monday night, when showers and thunderstorms are possible. Showers or storms could linger into Tuesday before skies turn mostly sunny; the high is expected to be near 68. Highs are forecast to remain in the 60s later in the week, with more chances for rain Wednesday night and Thursday.
A Past October Lakeshore Storm
A documented October storm in the forecast area had a different impact from the rain chances in this week’s forecast. According to the National Weather Service Grand Rapids, a separate storm on October 16, 2019, brought wind gusts topping 50 mph and waves over 10 feet to the West Michigan lakeshore. That lakeshore wind-and-wave event does not indicate the severity of this week’s rain chances.
