Grand Rapids starts Thursday with mild temperatures and mostly clear skies, but a few rain showers could interrupt the day before 2 p.m. The afternoon should turn partly sunny, with temperatures reaching about 67 degrees before a much colder night settles in.
The National Weather Service forecasts Thursday showers, while weekend rain chances are 20% to 30%, with rainfall totals likely staying below a tenth of an inch. Southwest winds may gust around 25 mph Thursday morning and early afternoon, and while an isolated rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out, the main story is a brief, spotty shower threat.
Clear Skies Return Thursday Night
Once the front moves through, skies should clear and winds will turn northwest. Temperatures will fall into the 30s Thursday night, making for a decidedly chilly start to Friday.
Friday brings the week’s cleanest weather window, with sunny skies, a high near 61 and light northwest winds. It is a good day for outdoor plans before clouds begin gathering again for Halloween weekend.
Halloween Weekend Stays Mild, Mostly Gray
Saturday looks mostly cloudy with a high near 62 and a slight chance of rain showers during the morning and afternoon. Saturday night should stay mostly cloudy.
Sunday stays mild but gray, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 66. Rain chances are limited during the day, giving Halloween weekend a better shot at staying dry than the unsettled weather arriving next week.
Rain Chances Build Next Week
Monday should reach about 68 degrees with partly sunny skies and a drier trend. More forecast members favor Tuesday for rainfall, with highs in the 60s.
Rain chances continue Wednesday. Lake Michigan boaters should also note that a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 2 p.m. Thursday, while no land-based watches or warnings are posted for Grand Rapids.
