A man was riding his Honda CRF100 dirt bike on the 600 block of Hutchens Road SE in Southeast Atlanta on Sunday when he fell off — and before he could climb back on, a suspect allegedly walked up, pulled out a gun, and rode off with the bike instead. Atlanta police are now asking the public for help identifying the armed suspect responsible.

According to Atlanta News First, officers responded to the robbery on Hutchens Road and determined the suspect approached the victim while he was still down after the fall, drew a firearm, and took the motorcycle before fleeing the scene on it. The outlet reports the case remains open as investigators work to identify the gunman.

The robbery happened on Hutchens Road SE in Southeast Atlanta. The area has seen serious violence before — in February 2025, a double shooting near Jonesboro Road and Hutchens Road SE left two men dead following a dispute at a local business, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.

The Stolen Bike

The motorcycle taken in Sunday's robbery was a Honda CRF100. The circumstances leave open questions about whether the suspect acted opportunistically after the rider fell or had been following him beforehand.

If caught, the suspect would face steep consequences. Armed robbery is classified under Georgia law, O.C.G.A. § 16-8-41, as a serious violent felony punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison, life imprisonment, or even death, according to Chehimi Law.

Cash Reward and How to Report Tips

Crime Stoppers of Greater Atlanta is accepting anonymous tips in the case and increased its standard reward to up to $5,000 for anonymous tips leading to arrests, the organization announced through the Atlanta Police Foundation. Anyone with information can call 404-577-8477, submit a tip through the P3 Tips mobile app, report online at StopCrimeATL.org, or text CSGA to 738477, according to ATL311.

A Citywide Drop in Vehicle Theft

The robbery comes even as motor vehicle thefts across Atlanta have fallen sharply. Mid-year 2025 crime data showed vehicle thefts dropped 40% year-over-year compared to 2024, part of an overall 13% decline in property crime citywide, according to the Atlanta Police Foundation. The department has also been working to add 600 new officers over 36 months, with a goal of 450 new officers on patrol before Atlanta hosts the FIFA World Cup in 2026. E911 answer times across the city have also improved.

As of Wednesday, the suspect remained unidentified.
