A new Habit Burger Grill is taking shape at Tanger Outlets Phoenix in Glendale, marking the chain's first restaurant in the city. The chargrilled burger chain is planned for the north side of the mall along Glendale Avenue, part of a group of new tenants planned for the property's north side.

According to azcentral.com, the Habit Burger Grill, Qdoba Mexican Eats, Café Zupas, Yogurtland and Pinky Nails & Spa are all planned for that stretch of the shopping center. Habit's new building will be a 2,800-square-foot structure with drive-thru service, as reported by ABC15, which also notes that construction is already underway in the north parking lot of Tanger Outlets Phoenix.

What to Expect From the Menu

Habit Burger & Grill has built its brand on California-inspired, cooked-to-order food, preparing every meal fresh and chargrilled, according to the Glendale Independent. A 2023 company announcement described the chain's approach similarly, saying it specializes in preparing fresh, cooked-to-order chargrilled burgers and handcrafted sandwiches, per a release distributed through GlobeNewswire.

That 2023 announcement also marked a milestone for the brand in Arizona: the opening of its 20th restaurant in the state, a drive-thru location in Mesa at 1054 E. Southern Ave. That Mesa restaurant offered drive-thru, dine-in and takeout service, with delivery available through the Habit app and website, the release noted. By that point, the chain had grown to more than 370 restaurants across 14 states, not counting its international locations.

A Growing Lineup of Neighbors

Habit won't be opening alone. The Glendale Independent reports on the Glendale opening, while ABC15 reports Qdoba Mexican Eats is set to open this summer in a 2,600-square-foot fast-casual space in the same north parking lot. Café Zupas is slated for a fall opening in a 3,200-square-foot space near Habit and Qdoba, also featuring a drive-thru, and Yogurtland is planned for a smaller, 1,400-square-foot spot, though an opening date hasn't been announced.

Preview Weekend Planned Before Opening

Before the doors officially open, Habit Burger Grill is expected to host a preview weekend, per the Glendale Independent. On the first preview day, the chain plans to offer a complimentary charburger, fries and drink to the first 200 guests, with a second preview event the following day offering a complimentary preset meal featuring a cooked-to-order charburger, sandwich or salad plus a drink, also limited to the first 200 guests. The preview events are expected at both 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on each of the two days, and guests can reserve a spot by joining MyHabit, the chain's loyalty program, according to the same report.

Tanger Outlets Phoenix is also set up to offer a hybrid mobile pickup lane and drive-thru for the new restaurant, the Glendale Independent reports. The chain's 20th Arizona restaurant opened in Mesa, and the planned Glendale location will add to its Arizona footprint, joining other planned food options on the shopping center's north side.
