Jefferson Park in Hamilton, Ohio just got a $45,167 facelift, complete with a new shelter and four picnic benches.
The improvements were announced in a post titled “Jefferson Park just got even better,” shared Wednesday by the City of Hamilton, Ohio - City Hall on Facebook. According to the post, the project received a $29,480 grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ NatureWorks program.
How the Funding Came Together
NatureWorks grants are financed through the Ohio Parks and Natural Resources Bond Issue, which Ohio voters approved back in November 1993. Per the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the program can reimburse local governments for up to 75% of eligible costs tied to acquiring, developing or rehabilitating recreation areas. The specific size of Hamilton's award was detailed only in the city's own announcement.
The city's parks are overseen by the Hamilton Parks Conservancy, a nonprofit the City of Hamilton describes as a 501(c)(3) focused solely on maintaining and expanding parks within city limits.
