Cowabunga Bay, the water park that has splashed down Henderson summers for more than a decade, is closing for good. The park at 900 Galleria Drive will not reopen for the 2027 season, bringing a 12-year run to an end.
The closure was confirmed by Cowabunga Vegas ownership, which says it is now focusing on operating just one park: Cowabunga Canyon in Summerlin, according to KSNV. Cowabunga Bay first opened in 2014, and the station reports it is closing its doors after operating for 12 years in Henderson.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal confirmed the park, located at 900 Galleria Drive, first opened in 2014 and will not reopen for the 2027 season, according to its ownership group. Cowabunga Canyon in Summerlin, by contrast, will remain open and continue operations as usual for the 2027 season, the newspaper reports.
Season Passes Shift to Summerlin Location
Guests who already bought a 2027 Cowabunga Vegas Season Pass won't be left empty-handed. Those passes will be honored at the Summerlin location, per the same reporting. Cowabunga Canyon underwent a rebrand and renovation in 2022 and is the park ownership is now putting its energy behind.
On its own website, Cowabunga Vegas thanked guests for “12 unforgettable Summers in Henderson” while confirming that Cowabunga Bay will not reopen for Summer 2027, according to cowabungavegas.com. The operator is directing season pass holders to its closure information page for updates, pass details, FAQs and refund requests.
What Happens to the Henderson Property
For now, the Henderson site itself isn't going anywhere just yet. The property will be kept maintained and secured while its future is considered, the station notes. No timeline has been given for what comes next at the Galleria Drive location.
The shutdown marks the end of an era for a park that had become part of the rhythm of Henderson summers since 2014, when it first opened its gates. With Cowabunga Canyon now carrying the torch alone heading into 2027, families who once split their pool days between the two parks will have just one Las Vegas-area option left under the Cowabunga banner.
