Hopkinsville Fire/EMS said crews responded around 9:31 p.m. Tuesday to a vehicle striking a building at a Circle K near Gateway Lane and Lafayette Road. WBKO located the crash in the 1900 block of Russellville Road and reported that the vehicle left the roadway and went through a business wall.

WBKO reported that the driver climbed out through the vehicle’s sunroof before emergency crews arrived. EMS evaluated him and took him to Jennie Stuart Health with injuries described as non-life-threatening. The building sustained significant damage; WBKO said it was evacuated and utilities were shut off while its structural safety was assessed.

A separate Hopkinsville crash earlier in September

The Russellville Road incident follows another reported vehicle-building collision in Hopkinsville, but the circumstances differed. WBKO reported that on September 9 a vehicle struck the Southern States Hopkinsville Petroleum Cooperative building in the 5000 block of Canton Pike, causing minor building damage; the driver was not injured. The incidents occurred at different locations and had different reported outcomes. Two separate reports do not establish a broader pattern or a shared cause.

WBKO reported that Hopkinsville police are investigating what led to Tuesday’s crash. The driver’s identity, the cause and the investigation’s outcome have not been reported.
