A Taco Bell at 10019 FM 1960 in Humble is slated for demolition and a complete rebuild, with construction projected to begin in February and wrap up by June. The $1.5 million project will replace the existing restaurant with a new, roughly 2,100-square-foot space, according to a filing submitted to state regulators.
The plans surfaced in an October 26 filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, as reported by Community Impact. The filing lays out a straightforward timeline: tear down the current building, then construct the new restaurant space in its place over the following months.
What the filing does not include is a projected opening date for the rebuilt location, so Humble residents craving a Crunchwrap Supreme or a Mountain Dew Baja Blast during the construction window will need to look elsewhere for their fix in the meantime. Taco Bell's menu, known for items like nachos, tacos, burritos and quesadillas alongside those signature offerings, won't be available at this address until the new building is finished.
A Rebuild, Not Just a Remodel
Unlike a simple renovation, the Humble project calls for the existing restaurant to come down entirely before the new structure goes up. That approach suggests a full modernization of the site rather than a cosmetic refresh, though the filing reviewed by the same outlet does not detail specific design changes planned for the new building.
With construction expected to run from February through June, the project will span roughly four to five months from groundbreaking to completion, according to the filing's timeline as described in the report.
A Different Kind of Change Down FM 1960
Humble isn't the only stretch of FM 1960 seeing changes at a Taco Bell. Down the road in Atascocita, a separate location is undergoing its own transformation — not a teardown, but a conversion into a Live Más Café format, according to hkatexas.com. That site's drive-thru was expected to reopen by Monday, November 10, per the same report, which did not specify the year for that timeline.
The two projects are unrelated beyond sharing a corridor and a brand, but together they reflect a period of reinvestment in Taco Bell's footprint along FM 1960. For now, Humble diners will have to wait for an opening date that, as of the October filing, simply hasn't been set.
