Jo Koy is coming to downtown San Diego, bringing his Koy Meets World Tour to the San Diego Civic Theatre on December 10 at 8 p.m. Presale tickets are already available, and general public sales open Friday, October 9, at 10 a.m. PDT.
The show lands at 1100 Third Avenue inside a venue Koy already knows well. As reported by KPBS, the Civic Theatre seats 2,967 and is described as the region's largest and greatest attended performing arts venue, owned by the city of San Diego and managed by San Diego Theatres on behalf of the community. In 2019, Koy sold out five consecutive shows at the Civic Theatre.
That kind of box-office pull has followed Koy well beyond San Diego. In March 2026, he and Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias co-headlined a sold-out night at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, becoming the first comedians to headline and sell out the NFL stadium, per the venue's own announcement at SoFi Stadium. Jamie Foxx surprised Koy during a set. Koy was also honored with his handprints and footprints cemented at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Fresh Material From a Sixth Netflix Special
San Diego audiences will likely hear bits from Koy's newest release. He dropped his sixth Netflix stand-up special, Jo Koy: Blue in the Face, on September 15, filmed before a sold-out crowd at Stockton Arena, according to Reelgood. The special weaves in personal stories about early job setbacks and family dynamics, themes that have long anchored his act.
His prior special, Jo Koy: Live From Brooklyn, filmed at the historic King's Theatre in 2024, generated more than 240 million minutes watched and ranked as Netflix's sixth most-viewed comedy special that year, per San Diego Theatres.
From Comedy Clubs To Blockbuster Stages
Koy's rise to stadium-filling status has deep roots. During an 11-show run in Hawaii in 2017, he sold 23,000 tickets across consecutive sellouts at Honolulu's Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall, a streak significant enough that the mayor's office declared November 24 “Jo Koy Day.”
Beyond stand-up, Koy has built a national profile that includes being announced as host of the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards, scheduled for January 7, 2024, according to CBS News. He also starred in Universal Pictures' 2022 comedy Easter Sunday.
San Diego's Tour Stop
The December 10 stop brings the Koy Meets World Tour to San Diego.
Since opening in January 1965, the Civic Theatre has hosted opera, classical music, dance, comedians, contemporary music and Broadway productions, per San Diego Theatres. The venue has also served as a community gathering place for inaugurations, governmental addresses, religious services, political activities, lectures, educational presentations and corporate meetings, with primary producers and presenters including San Diego Opera, Broadway/San Diego, La Jolla Music Society and California Ballet.
