A July 30 shooting near Northeast 10th Street and Midwest Boulevard set off a car chase through Midwest City, ending with two people in handcuffs at a gas station in northeast Oklahoma City. Police say the pursuit began after officers responded to an apartment complex in the area just after midnight, and by the time it was over, investigators had recovered a stolen vehicle and a semiautomatic 9mm firearm.
Shooting Triggers Overnight Pursuit
According to KFOR, officers responded to the apartment complex near NE 10th Street and Midwest Boulevard just after midnight following reports of gunfire in the July 30 incident. The chase that followed stretched into neighboring Oklahoma City before it ended at a gas station in the northeast part of the city, where two people were taken into custody, the station reported.
Police told the station that the vehicle the suspects had been driving was later discovered to have been reported stolen. Officers also recovered a semiautomatic 9mm firearm during the investigation, per the same report. As of Thursday morning, no additional details had been released, and KFOR noted that the investigation remained active with no further information available at the time.
Two KFOR Reports Describe Separate Incidents
A July 30, 2026, KFOR report about a chase described a person shot in the foot. A separate KFOR report, published October 29, 2026, described a woman struck by multiple shots fired into a home near NE 10th Street and Midwest Boulevard. She was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The reports, published nearly three months apart, are not conflicting accounts of the same shooting.
Adding another layer, News9 reported that three suspects fled the scene in a reportedly stolen vehicle. Two of the three were quickly apprehended, the station said, but officers were unable to locate the third suspect. News9's account describes the same July 30 shooting and pursuit, and says officers were unable to locate a third suspect.
A Familiar Intersection For Gunfire Reports
This is not the first time gunfire has been reported near that same stretch of Midwest City. One prior incident described by koco.com involved two people with gunshot wounds near North Midwest Boulevard and Northeast 10th Street who went to a hospital. An officer saw a man fleeing, and that man was taken into custody.
Other recent Midwest City shootings illustrate a similar pattern of victims being rushed to hospitals while details trickle out slowly. koco.com also reported on a man injured in a drive-by shooting on a Tuesday evening, shot in the leg near McDonald Drive and Northeast 16th Street at about 8:07 p.m., and on a separate shooting shortly after midnight at an apartment complex on North Midwest Boulevard.
For now, Midwest City police have not released further details on Thursday's shooting, the identities of those detained, or any charges that may follow. Investigators say the case remains open, and no additional information was available as of the latest reporting.
