Jungle is turning a midweek slump into a dance party in Berkeley. The British group behind the viral hit “Back on 74” returns to the Bay Area for two concerts at the Greek Theatre, with shows set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 6-7.

As reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, tickets for the shows at the Greek Theatre, located at 2001 Gayley Road in Berkeley, start at $131, and the concerts are billed as an effort to turn the workweek into a dance party. Jungle is known for blending modern funk, disco, neo-soul and electronic pop, a sound the band has carried since forming in London in 2013, when childhood friends Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland launched the project, according to Westword. The outlet describes the group's signature sound as a groove blending 1970s funk, disco and modern neo-soul, and the band is also known for its hypnotic one-take dance films, per the Chronicle's report.

A New Album and a New Full-Time Voice

The Berkeley dates arrive on the heels of Jungle's fifth studio album, Sunshine, which came out in August 2026 and follows the band's 2023 record Volcano. Sunshine was released specifically on August 14, 2026, via Caiola Records, according to Official Charts. The album expands Jungle's soulful sound into a warmer, more optimistic direction, weaving in Brazilian and tropical influences alongside lush harmonies, vintage soul textures and dancefloor-ready production, the same outlet notes.

Lyrically, the record explores nostalgia, relationships, distance, regret and the desire to recapture past moments, per Official Charts. Bandmembers have also described the new album as a quieter statement than its predecessor. “With Sunshine, we don't need to shout to be heard,” the group told Rolling Stone Philippines.

Lydia Kitto Steps Into a Bigger Role

Sunshine also marks a shift in the band's lineup and creative process. Lydia Kitto, who officially became a full-time member of Jungle in 2023, was featured prominently on the new album, and Official Charts reports that her soulful vocal presence takes on an even greater role across the record. The album is Jungle's first released as a trio with Kitto officially in the fold alongside Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland, according to Apple Music, which notes she also picked up credits for production and songwriting on the project.

Kitto has built a public profile beyond the band as well, having performed at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2025 in London. The expanded role has coincided with a run of acclaim for the group, which won Group of the Year at the 2024 BRIT Awards, per Rolling Stone Philippines.

From Outside Lands to Red Rocks

Bay Area fans have seen Jungle before: the band performed at Golden Gate Park during Outside Lands in 2024. More recently, the group's current tour swung through Colorado, where it played back-to-back sold-out nights at Red Rocks on September 27 and 28 with Rio Kosta opening, according to Westword. Glide Magazine reported the September 28 date marked the 13th stop of the band's world tour, following a sold-out show the night before.

Reviewers at that Colorado stop described a crowd that took little time to catch fire. By the third song, the fan favorite “Heavy, California,” the entire venue shifted into high gear, Westword reported. Both Berkeley shows at the Greek Theatre are sold out and open to all ages, according to Another Planet Entertainment, which also notes that doors and show times are subject to change.
