A passenger who survived a fiery rollover crash on MO 350 in Kansas City has died from her injuries, and police continue investigating the crash. A 1985 Chevrolet box van flipped and burst into flames along Blue Parkway.

The box van was traveling west on MO 350/Blue Parkway when the driver missed a curve, sending it off the side of the road; it rolled over and reportedly became engulfed in flames.

KCPD has since confirmed the passenger died from her injuries. The crash investigation remains ongoing.

A Fatal Crash Earlier This Year

This is not the first fatal crash on MO 350 in Jackson County this year. In July, a pre-dawn collision on eastbound MO 350 near Westridge Road in Raytown killed two people and critically injured two others after both vehicles went over an embankment into a wooded area, a crash Hoodline detailed in its Raytown highway horror report. None of the four occupants in that crash were wearing seat belts.

Interstate 435 and Highway 71 are high-traffic areas with more accidents, according to McShane & Brady.

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced major traffic modifications and closures on eastbound Blue Parkway/MO 350 over Interstate 435 running October 1 through November 20 for bridge rehabilitation.

City-Wide Numbers Show Progress, But Risks Remain

Kansas City recorded 68 traffic fatalities in 2025, a 30% decline from the 97 traffic deaths logged in 2024, per KCUR.

Since 2021, Kansas City has been trying through Vision Zero to eliminate traffic fatalities, with a goal of zero traffic deaths by 2030, according to KCUR. The City of Kansas City says it has executed more than 300 infrastructure safety projects across the municipal road network as part of that push.

MO 350 has already seen fatal crashes this year, including the July collision near Westridge Road.
