Kansas City can expect showers Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, showers should increase late Saturday morning or early afternoon and continue through the afternoon and evening. Saturday night, showers should decrease overnight and eventually end.
Sunday Offers A Brief Weather Break
Sunday looks like the easiest day of the weekend for outdoor plans, with dry weather expected.
That calm spell may not last long, with another chance of showers developing after midnight Sunday night. The overnight low is expected to be around 60 degrees, so the evening should feel mild before the next system moves in.
Monday Brings The Bigger Storm Concern
Monday is the main weather day to watch, with rain showers likely before thunderstorms become possible later in the day and overnight. The high could reach 72 degrees, with a 90% chance of precipitation and rainfall totals between a quarter-inch and half an inch.
The weather service says some storms could become strong to severe, with damaging winds the most likely concern. A tornado risk is also possible if a well-organized line of storms develops, so residents should keep an eye on updated forecasts Monday and know where they would shelter if warnings are issued.
Cooler, Calmer Weather Returns Midweek
Showers may linger into Tuesday, which is expected to reach about 66 degrees. Conditions should settle down by Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 63.
Later next week, highs are expected to be in the lower to middle 60s. For Saturday plans, an umbrella is a reasonable accessory; for Monday, secure loose outdoor items and move indoors as soon as thunder is heard.
