A 60-year-old man died after he was found with stab wounds on a Kansas City front porch Saturday morning, and police say the attack that killed him likely happened somewhere else entirely. No one has been arrested as detectives piece together how the victim ended up on the porch in the first place.
Police responded shortly after 9:30 a.m. Saturday to the area of 46th and Chestnut Avenue, according to KCTV5. Officers arrived to find a man on a home's front porch with apparent stab wounds. He was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The victim did not survive. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead, according to KSHB. Police identified him as Michael Duncan, per KCTV5's report.
Victim Traveled to Where He Was Found
Investigators believe the stabbing itself did not happen on the porch where Duncan was discovered. The station's report states that police believe the stabbing occurred at a different location, and the victim traveled to the location where he was found on Chestnut Avenue. That detail leaves open the question of where the attack actually took place and how Duncan made his way to the home afterward.
As of the initial reporting, no suspect had been taken into custody. No one is in custody at this time, and the case is being investigated as a homicide, per the same account from police. FOX4KC also confirmed that detectives were still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly stabbing.
Investigation Continues
Kansas City police have not released further details about a motive or a possible suspect. KMBC likewise reported the fatal stabbing was under active investigation as authorities continue working the case. The homicide remains one of several violent crimes Kansas City police are currently investigating across the city.
