Atlanta City Council’s zoning committee unanimously approved an application tied to a proposed microbrewery and taproom on Dill Avenue, according to WSB-TV. The applicant is Fun Ventures, LLC, doing business as Khonso Brewing. The outlet also reported that Capitol View Neighborhood Association members sent the council a letter supporting the proposal.
The vote is a zoning milestone, not confirmation that the taproom can open. WSB-TV reported that Zoning Review Board consideration remains in the process and that construction and safety permits are among the steps still needed. The city says the board considers recommendations from neighborhood planning and city planning staff, then forwards its own recommendation on a rezoning to the council’s Zoning Committee. The city’s description is general; the available account does not explain how that sequence applies to this application after the committee vote. The project’s review status and opening timeline therefore remain unsettled.
A local-business effort, and different zoning outcomes
Khonso Brewing’s proposal sits within a neighborhood that has also identified small-business development as a priority. The Capitol View Neighborhood Association says its Economic Development Committee is creating a local-business database to support and promote small-business growth. That initiative provides neighborhood context, but does not establish the association’s position on any other project or explain the zoning committee’s decision.
A separate Capitol View case shows why zoning outcomes should be considered project by project. The neighborhood association reported that the Zoning Review Board recommended denial of MRC-3 rezoning for the 1313 Sylvan Road redevelopment after a December 11, 2025, hearing. That proposal is distinct from the Dill Avenue taproom; the different site and rezoning request make it a point of comparison, not a forecast for Khonso Brewing.
The neighborhood has also seen proposals at a very different scale. Urbanize Atlanta reported that a separate Abebe Ventures proposal along Sylvan Road called for 3,032 residential units and more than 716,000 square feet of commercial and restaurant space. Those plans concern a different redevelopment, not the Dill Avenue brewery, and do not establish that the proposal has been built or approved.
For Khonso Brewing, the reported committee vote and neighborhood association support are known; project size, investment, a target opening date and ownership details beyond Fun Ventures, LLC have not been disclosed. Further review and permits remain relevant before the taproom can be treated as ready to open.
