Kim Kardashian's shapewear and loungewear brand SKIMS officially planted its flag in Massachusetts this week, opening its first store in the state inside Boston's Seaport neighborhood. The shop opened its doors on Friday, October 23, bringing the brand's bodysuits, underwear and loungewear to a storefront shoppers can finally walk into rather than order online.
Where to Find the New Seaport Shop
The store sits at 1 Boston Wharf Road, according to the Patriot Ledger, placing SKIMS alongside a dense cluster of retail tenants already filling out the Seaport's shopping scene. The neighborhood's broader tenant roster, as listed by developer WS Development, includes names like Anthropologie, Ralph Lauren, Equinox and Warby Parker, putting SKIMS in company with other national brands that have bet on the waterfront district's foot traffic.
For Boston shoppers planning a visit, the Seaport store keeps fairly standard retail hours: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. The opening also isn't the end of SKIMS' Boston ambitions — the brand has plans for a second store at the Prudential Center, though the Patriot Ledger's report notes no opening date has been confirmed yet.
A Brand Built on Rapid Physical Expansion
SKIMS, which Kardashian co-founded with Jens Grede and Emma Grede in 2019, is owned by Kim Kardashian and sells loungewear, underwear and other apparel primarily online and through wholesale partners and luxury department stores. Until recently, shoppers in Boston could only get the brand through those partners — SKIMS products are sold at Saks Fifth Avenue in the Prudential Center and at Bloomingdale's in Chestnut Hill, per the same Patriot Ledger account, and the brand lists Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Selfridges and Harrods among its wholesale and department-store partners on its own store locator.
The Boston opening fits into a much larger retail push. SKIMS has 27 company-operated stores plus partner-run locations in Mexico and the United Arab Emirates, according to WWD, and the brand is aiming for 55 stores by the end of this year and more than 100 by the end of 2027. Co-founder Jens Grede told WWD that “eighty percent of our category is bought in physical retail,” explaining the company's aggressive pivot toward brick-and-mortar shops after years of being known primarily as an online and celebrity-driven label.
Funding Fuels the Store-by-Store Rollout
That expansion push follows a $225 million funding round SKIMS completed at the end of 2025, which valued the company at $5 billion, according to Retail Dive. The company said at the time that the proceeds would go toward accelerating its physical locations and expanding into additional product categories — a strategy that has included launching a men's line in 2023, per the same outlet.
Boston joins a store map that already includes flagship locations in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago, along with an international presence in Mexico and Dubai, Retail Dive reports. The Chicago flagship, housed in a 6,500-square-foot former bank building in the Gold Coast neighborhood, carries both women's and men's products and even lets customers virtually queue for dressing rooms by scanning a QR code. SKIMS' first permanent store opened in Washington, D.C.'s Georgetown neighborhood, with the brand's newer Regent Street flagship in London spanning roughly 12,000 square feet of selling space.
With a Seaport storefront now open and a Prudential Center location in the pipeline, Boston shoppers will have a growing number of ways to shop SKIMS in person — on top of the wholesale racks at Saks and Bloomingdale's that have carried the brand locally for years.
