A mother and her daughter were stabbed late Tuesday night in Philadelphia's Kingsessing section, and police are now searching for a female suspect in connection with the attack. The mother was stabbed in the neck and stomach, while her daughter suffered a stab wound to the arm. Both women were conscious when officers arrived and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The attack happened near 54th Street and Woodland Avenue just before midnight on Tuesday, according to 6abc. The station reports that the mother and daughter were both conscious when police arrived at the scene and were subsequently taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.
No Suspect Description, No Motive Yet
As of Wednesday morning, investigators had not released a description of the woman they're searching for in the stabbing. The outlet's report also notes that no motive for the attack has been identified, leaving the circumstances that led to the assault unclear for now.
The lack of details has left the case wide open, with police offering no information yet on how the confrontation began or what relationship, if any, existed between the victims and the suspect. The same report indicates that the investigation remains active, with no further updates provided on the women's conditions since they were transported to the hospital.
Kingsessing's Recent History With Knife Violence
This is not the first time Kingsessing has made headlines over a stabbing. A January 2025 report from 6abc Philadelphia described an investigation into a woman who was stabbed to death in the neighborhood. Months later, in June 2025, FOX 29 Philadelphia reported that a 56-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in Kingsessing, with a 56-year-old man taken into custody in that case.
Those earlier incidents are separate from Tuesday night's attack, and no connection between them has been established. For now, the search for the woman suspected in the stabbing of the mother and daughter continues, with police yet to release any identifying details to the public.
