Two passengers riding westbound on Interstate 26 were stabbed Friday before the vehicle's driver ordered the attacker out of the car, according to police. Kingsport officers arrested 21-year-old Wiley Tester a short time later on Fairview Avenue in connection with the stabbings.
Officers from the Kingsport Police Department responded along with deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office to the 2300 block of Idle Hour Road after reports that multiple people had been stabbed, according to WJHL. Police say Tester, 21, was accused of stabbing a 22-year-old and an 18-year-old, both of whom were riding with him in a car traveling westbound on I-26 at the time of the attack.
Driver Told Tester To Get Out
All three people involved in the stabbing were passengers in the vehicle, per the same report, and the driver of the car was not assaulted. The driver ordered Tester out of the vehicle, according to Supertalk 92.9, which reported that Tester was traveling with two others on I-26 when the driver forced him out.
Supertalk 92.9 identified the injured passengers as Jaden Manis, 22, and Malachi Stone, 18, saying police said the pair were hurt by Tester and then made their way to an address on Idle Hour Road, where officers and deputies responded to the reports of the stabbing. Both victims were taken to Holston Valley Medical Center for treatment, according to WJHL.
Suspect Found On Fairview Avenue
Kingsport officers located and apprehended Tester shortly afterward on Fairview Avenue, WJHL reported. As of the latest reporting, Tester had been taken into custody with charges pending, per the Supertalk 92.9 account of the investigation.
According to WCYB, Tester has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the incident. The investigation remains active, and further details about the circumstances leading up to the stabbing had not been released.
