A 25-year-old Kissimmee man is facing a felony charge after Orange County deputies say he got out of his Jeep and pointed a black handgun at a Disney bus driver during a roadside standoff. David Lawrence Charlot was arrested and booked on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm, held on $10,000 bond, following an incident on East Buena Vista Drive near Bonnet Creek Parkway.

According to WKMG/ClickOrlando, the Orange County Sheriff's Office reported that the confrontation began when a white Jeep was stopped at a green light with a Disney bus directly behind it. A witness told investigators the bus honked its horn when the Jeep failed to move, and the bus eventually inched closer to the stalled vehicle.

That's when, per the arrest-affidavit account relayed by the outlet, the Jeep's driver got out and walked toward the bus. He reportedly reached into the vehicle's center console, pulled out a black semi-automatic pistol, and pointed it directly at the bus driver. Bus-camera video reportedly captured Charlot aiming the handgun at the driver, according to the same report.

Deputies Track Jeep to Resort Lobby

Deputies responded to a call about the incident at around 9 p.m., the station's report notes. A 911 caller alleged the Jeep had driven to the Port Orleans resort, and when deputies arrived at the resort lobby, they found the white Jeep sitting empty. Charlot then approached a deputy on scene, according to the account relayed by the outlet.

Charlot was arrested in connection with the incident.

Walt Disney World maintains a strict weapons ban across its property. The resort states that guests are not permitted to have firearms, ammunition, knives or weapons of any kind at Walt Disney World Resort, according to a policy cited by Florida Politics. This incident took place on a public roadway near the resort rather than inside a Disney-controlled checkpoint, though it unfolded just steps from Disney transportation operations.

Not the First Gun Scare Near Orlando Transit

Firearm incidents tied to Central Florida transit have surfaced before. Earlier in September, Orlando police arrested Nicholas Javonn Sigma, 44, after a victim was threatened with a gun at a Conroy Road LYNX bus stop, according to a report from WKMG/ClickOrlando. Separately, Orange County deputies in 2022 said a Royal Palm Beach man was charged with carrying a concealed firearm without a license after bringing a gun and ammunition into Disney property, according to Patch.
