Knoxville native Emily Wyrick takes the stage tonight at the Lakeshore Park Amphitheater for An Evening Under the Stars, an outdoor dinner and concert benefiting InterFaith Health Center. The event starts at 6 p.m. and centers on a special tribute to Dolly Parton, with Wyrick performing songs and sharing stories tied to the country music icon.
As reported by The Knoxville Focus, the annual fundraiser is presented by InterFaith Health Center and will be held at the amphitheater, located at 5930 Lyons View Pike. According to InterFaith Health Center, this year's event will be a special tribute to Dolly Parton, with Wyrick sharing songs and stories related to the star.
Tickets for the evening include food, cocktails and the performance itself, per the health center's event listing. All proceeds from the night will go directly to InterFaith Health Center, which has spent decades providing a safety net for Knoxville residents who fall through the cracks of the traditional healthcare system.
What InterFaith Health Center Does
InterFaith Health Center provides comprehensive, affordable care to working uninsured or underserved individuals across the greater Knoxville area, according to the organization. The center offers medical, dental, mental-health and prescription assistance to people who work but lack insurance coverage.
The center provides low-cost medical services for working people without insurance, and it has been doing so since it opened in 1991, the nonprofit's own site notes. Separately, a volunteer agency profile describes InterFaith as providing affordable medical care, dental care, mental health counseling and prescription medications for the working uninsured.
A New Home on Middlebrook Pike
Beyond tonight's fundraiser, InterFaith Health Center is in the midst of a bigger transition. The organization raised $12 million to fund a renovation and move to a new building, as reported by WATE.
All of InterFaith's services will be consolidated under one roof at the new building at 7005 Middlebrook Pike, the station reports. InterFaith plans to move in and start seeing patients at the new location in November, consolidating care that had previously been spread across multiple sites into a single facility.
For now, the focus is on tonight's gathering beneath the Lakeshore Park sky, where a Dolly Parton tribute and a shared meal are set to raise money for a cause that has quietly supported working, uninsured Knoxville residents for more than three decades.
