A Korean-style coffee shop known for lattes flavored with corn, sweet potato and black sesame has opened its doors in Round Rock. Cafe du Bliss debuted its new location at 1312 Round Rock Ave. on October 22, bringing a second Austin-area outpost to a cafe that first built its name in the Arboretum.
The shop is locally owned by Suzi and Michael Yi, according to Community Impact Newspaper. The Round Rock cafe marks Cafe du Bliss's second location in the greater Austin area, joining its original shop in the Arboretum, the outlet reported. Community Impact had earlier described the expansion as planned for Round Rock's west side later this year, a timeline that held as the shop ultimately opened in October.
Cafe du Bliss describes itself as a locally owned Korean-style coffee shop, and its own website says it is a family-owned cafe inspired by Korean traditions, found at cafedubliss.com. That Korean influence shows up most clearly on the drink menu, which features matcha- and coffee-based beverages, smoothies and sparkling drinks alongside specialty lattes in corn, sweet potato and black sesame flavors.
What's on the Menu
Beyond coffee and matcha, the cafe's food lineup leans into pastry. The menu includes croffles made from croissant pastry dough, as well as taiyaki, a fish-shaped pastry filled with a variety of fillings. The shop's website also highlights a newer drink series built around premium, ceremonial matcha whipped into what it calls a silky cloud cream.
The new Round Rock location takes the place of Fatbee Cafe, which closed last year, the report notes. For Round Rock shoppers and commuters along Round Rock Ave, the opening gives the city its own taste of a format that has already found an audience in Austin.
A Second Shop After an Austin Start
Cafe du Bliss's original location sits inside the Arboretum area, listed at 10000 Research Blvd., Unit 136, in Austin, according to a postcard.inc place listing. That listing describes the Austin cafe as a Korean-style shop with a strong atmosphere and a menu that includes creative lattes, desserts and waffles, and it points to additional croffle varieties there, including banana chocolate and pistachio-and-chocolate cream options. It is not confirmed whether those specific flavors are available at the new Round Rock shop.
With two locations now open across the Austin area, Cafe du Bliss has expanded from a single Arboretum storefront to a presence on both sides of the region. The Round Rock shop's opening on Round Rock Ave gives local coffee and matcha fans a closer option to the specialty lattes and pastries that first drew attention to the brand's original location.
