A café and flower shop that has built a loyal following in New Jersey and Brooklyn is finally crossing the river. BloomBar Café et Fleurs is opening its first Manhattan location on the Upper East Side later this month, bringing its blend of kosher pastries, matcha and curated florals to 1226 Third Avenue at East 71st Street.
According to East Side Feed, the new shop is slated to open in late October 2026, though hours and an exact grand-opening date have not been announced. The concept has been described as half café, half boutique, combining a fully kosher menu that the company says is organic and clean with gifts, home décor, clean beauty products and grab-and-go florals, the outlet reports.
What's on the Menu
BloomBar's food and drink offerings lean heavily on the café side of its hybrid identity. The shop imports its matcha directly from Japan and uses house-batched plant and oat milks in every latte, per East Side Feed's reporting. BloomBar also serves vegan soft serve made from its own plant-based recipe, alongside fresh salads and pastries.
On its own website, the company describes a café where, in its words, “we serve up incredible matcha, coffee, artisanal pastries and more,” according to Bloombar Flower Market. The same site tells visitors they can expect “stunning floral arrangements,” the finest matcha and coffee, handcrafted pastries and a curated selection of homewares, gifts and beauty essentials, as detailed on the company's About page.
From a Pandemic Flower Stand to a Growing Chain
BloomBar's roots trace back to the pandemic, when the business began as a flower market in a small New Jersey community, East Side Feed notes. The company has since grown to shops in Allenhurst, Long Branch, Deal and Fair Haven, New Jersey, plus two Brooklyn locations. A Yelp listing confirms one of those Brooklyn shops sits at 511 Ave U, categorized under Coffee & Tea.
Husband-and-wife founders Heleyne and Ronnie Tamir are behind the expansion, the same report states. The Upper East Side opening will mark BloomBar's eighth location once its vegan soft-serve concept, Ripe, is factored in — and the company isn't stopping there. A ninth location is already planned for Monmouth Square in Eatontown, New Jersey, set to open in spring 2027.
A Founder's Beauty-Industry Background
Heleyne Tamir brings a résumé rooted in beauty and retail to the venture. She previously co-founded Surratt Beauty, according to BloomBar's About page. That background in curated, lifestyle-driven retail appears to inform BloomBar's broader pitch: a concept the company describes as blending a luxury floral market with an artisanal café and lifestyle boutique.
For now, Upper East Siders curious about the new shop will have to wait for an official hours and opening-date announcement, which BloomBar has yet to release. Those interested in the building itself can review its permit and violation history through the Building Information System or the DOB NOW Public Portal, according to the NYC Department of Buildings, though no information about the shop's specific permitting status has been reported.
