According to National Weather Service, Las Vegas is starting Wednesday clear and dry, but the valley is headed for another stretch of near-100-degree afternoons. Highs should reach about 98 degrees Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before a sharper cool-down arrives this weekend.
The National Weather Service forecasts light winds and sunny skies through Friday, with overnight lows staying in the mid-70s. The heat will run roughly 10 to 15 degrees above normal, and forecasters say several daily temperature records could be within reach.
Gusty Winds Arrive Saturday
Saturday will still be mostly sunny, but temperatures should ease to around 93 degrees as south winds increase, with gusts potentially reaching 20 mph. Saturday night will be partly cloudy and cooler, with a low near 70.
Storm Chances Build Sunday
The biggest change arrives Sunday, when the forecast calls for a high near 85 and a 45% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Winds from the south could gust as high as 24 mph, making for a notably unsettled day across the Las Vegas area.
Showers and thunderstorms could continue Sunday night and into Monday, when the high is expected to stay near 77 degrees. The National Weather Service Las Vegas office says the region could see cooler-than-normal temperatures, gusty conditions and potentially widespread rain through early next week, while noting that the storm track could still shift.
